The magic of the Merge Cube

This one-of-a-kind toy puts holograms in the palm of your hand

The Merge Cube is one of the coolest tech toys to emerge in 2017, and now you can get it for less* – just in time for the holidays!

The Merge Cube is the world’s first holographic toy, designed for users aged 10 and up. It uses augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technology along with your smartphone’s camera and sensors to merge the physical and digital worlds. The result is amazing. One moment, you’re holding a small black cube; the next, it could be a box of fireworks, planet Earth or a baby octopus.

Each toy comes with free apps, available online at the Merge Miniverse. Simply launch one and point your smartphone or tablet at the Merge Cube. (It’s compatible with iOS and Android; recommended devices are iPhone 6 or newer and Samsung S7 or newer. Test your device’s compatibility here.) You can prop up your device on the included tablet/smartphone stand or, for a more immersive experience, slide your phone into a pair of AR-enabled VR goggles. Then watch as your cube instantly transforms.

What can you do with the Merge Cube? The Miniverse offers games, puzzles and educational apps guaranteed to keep kids entertained. In an app called Th!ngs, players can hatch and nurture an adorable Octopet or fight evil aliens. In Mr. Body, players can learn about (and hold!) vital organs like the heart and brain.

That’s just the beginning. The Merge Cube has a growing universe of digital pets, galaxies and brain-busting games to explore, all rated for age level and motion level. Here’s hoping we’ll find a Merge Cube in our stockings this year…

*Limited-time offer: from December 1 to 31, get the Merge Cube for just $24 – that’s 20% off the MSRP of $30. Available at Rogers and Fido stores, and on and Visit for more details.
