It’s time to celebrate the great outdoors, NHL-style, hockey fans! Two teams – showcasing some of the game’s biggest stars – are primed to put a new twist on their long-standing rivalry on January 2 when they face off in the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic®.

They’ve met on over 300 occasions in the regular season and almost 70 more times in the playoffs. Whenever Central Division squads Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues take to the ice, it’s sure to deliver plenty of drama.

Don’t have a ticket for the big event? No worries: Rogers has all the action (and angles) covered. Tune in to SportsnetTM or RogersTM NHL GameCentre LIVETM to watch two of the best in the west go all out for the win.

The ninth edition of the NHL’s wildly popular outdoor series features some of the sport’s top talents, including Chicago’s revered captain, Jonathan Toews, and 2016 Hart Memorial and Art Ross Trophy winner Patrick Kane, who will take on St. Louis scoring ace Vladimir Tarasenko and bigtime blueliner Alex Pietrangelo.

Busch Stadium, home to the Major League Baseball’s 11-time World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals, is the venue for this year’s must-watch event. The 46,000-seat stadium opened in 2006 and hosted the 80th MLB® All-Star Game in July 2009.

St. Louis will host their first outdoor regular-season game. The Blackhawks will play in their third Winter Classic (2009, 2015) and skate in their fifth outdoor contest. Chicago met the Pittsburgh Penguins (2014) and Minnesota Wild (2016) in the Coors Light NHL Stadium Series.

“The Blues and Blackhawks have enjoyed a strong rivalry over the years, highlighted by some incredible players,” says Joe Reekie, NHLPA divisional player representative. “With the talent on both current rosters, having these two teams face off in the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic will make for a special event for both players and Blues fans who have been waiting for this signature event to come to St. Louis.”
