Three reasons to be stoked that The Walking Dead is back

Get ready to devour Season Eight – and enter the Watching Dead contest for the chance to win a killer prize!

For fans of The Walking Dead, the last six months have probably felt as narratively barren as the shelves in a ransacked Big Spot. Season Seven of the acclaimed zombie series ended back in April – with no less than Sasha’s heroic self-sacrifice, a tiger attack (!) and war breaking out – and viewers have been chomping at the bit ever since to find out what happens next.

Well, the wait is over: the highly anticipated eighth season of The Walking Dead premieres on AMC on October 22! (Even if you don’t subscribe to AMC, all Rogers TV customers can watch the milestone 100th episode on Rogers On Demand on October 23.)

Here are three reasons to get super-psyched for the return of Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and their desperate fellow survivors.

1. All action, all the time

After its somewhat subdued seventh season, The Walking Dead’s eighth season will up the excitement and action – big time. Using the All Out War storylines of the show’s eponymous comics, Season Eight will be filled with conflict and chaos, as Negan and the Saviors go toe to toe with the Alexandria forces, the Maggie-led Hilltop Colony and all the denizens of the Kingdom.

2. A milestone episode + a few more new faces

The October 22 season premiere also marks the series’ 100th episode, which co-star Tom Payne (who plays Jesus) has promised will kick off with “a bang.” Season Eight will consist of 16 episodes, and at least two new, yet-to-be-cast faces will be joining the fold: a sarcastic twentysomething named Dillon, and Abbud, a Muslim-American who’s been isolated from his fellow humans for a bit too long.

3. The Watching Dead contest!

To celebrate the return of The Walking Dead, Rogers is giving customers who watch the 100th episode on Rogers On Demand the chance to win a trip for two to Los Angeles to attend the live taping of the mid-season finale of Talking Dead, the official after-show hosted by Chris Hardwick!

Just tune in to Rogers On Demand (Channel 100) between October 23 and November 6, watch the 100th episode of The Walking Dead and you’ll automatically be entered into the Watching Dead contest.

Two fan-tastic grand prizes are up for grabs, each consisting of roundtrip airfare for two to Los Angeles, three nights’ accommodation, two tickets to the Talking Dead taping and US$300 spending money.
